I'll read everything you write here, no matter how "incomplete" or what day you hit "publish" :)

This was so poetic. I'm going to start paying attention to God speaking through nature now. Beautiful writing Christy. Thank you!

I live in a very temperate climate and I do have flowers blooming, and trees leafing out. Nature is shouting joyful things, but I have sense of restraint - like I can’t fully embrace it until Lent ends. The weather and garden says celebrate, while the liturgical year says lay low and wait.

“Nothing I do can awaken spring” - such a beautiful line. It feels like the start of a poem to me!

As a native Minnesotan, I hear you on Lent and climate! I'm currently spending a very disorienting 2 weeks in Florida. Between the warm weather, beautiful flowers and joy of spending time with family, it isn't feeling very Lenty. At least not in some ways. But God is speaking to my heart and leading me to Holy Week and Easter in an entirely new way. Which seems appropriate for Lent in a Jubilee year ❤️

Christy, I always look forward to your posts. This reflection really hit home, even while I live in a warmer climate. I needed this: “Lent is not meant to be a punishment, it is meant to show us that we are not in control.”

I had come across that essay at the Lamp but without having watched Severence.... love when people smarter than us can put those kind of things to words. Chilling stuff tho.
